The Golden Compass - Nicole Kidman Movie Trailer

The Golden Compass is based on the first book in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. It stars Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig (Bond, James Blonde), and Sam Elliot, along with newcomer Dakota Blue Richards as the young heroine. Ian McShane, everyone's favorite potty mouth from Deadwood, provides the voice of the bear king Ragnar.

I've never read the books but I am a J.R.R. Tolkien/C.S. Lewis fan, and Pullman is obviously influenced by both authors. The movie looks more like Narnia than the LOTR that the studio is trying to promote it as. It still looks very promising and is due out in the U.S. On December 7th.
