McCain Caught Lying About the Surge, CBS Edits it Out
Let's get one thing straight from the start: John McCain is not confused, he is a liar. Remember that everytime you hear the press brush off another McCain moment as him simply being "confused."
This week McCain did an interview with Katie Couric for CBS News and ripped Obama's claim that some of the credit we are giving to the surge of U.S. troops in Iraq should actually go to the Sunni leaders and the Shi'ite government for deciding to go after militias and al Qaeda.
McCain replied to Couric, "I don't know how you respond to something that is as-- such a false depiction of what actually happened. Colonel MacFarland was contacted by one of the major Sunni sheiks. Because of the surge we were able to go out and protect that sheik and others. And it began the Anbar awakening. I mean, that's just a matter of history."
Actually Senator, it's not part of history, it's only part of John McCain's Land of Lies. Col. MacFarland credited Sunni's and Shi'ites for cracking down on militias and al Qaeda four months before the surge was even announced.
Furthermore, most of Col. MacFarland's troops were removed from the area McCain claims they were in, before the surge.
Lastly, McCain himself was in Iraq in early 2007, before the surge, and credited Sunni and Shi'ite leaders with taking on militias and al Qaeda and reducing violence. Something McCain now claims didn't happen until months later, despite video of McCain in Iraq long before the surge complimenting Sunni and Shi'ite leaders.
Yet a year and a half later, McCain lies his ass off to make Obama look bad, and not only does the Huffington Post slap McCain on the wrist and say he's "confused" (which is complete bullshit - and even if he were simply confused it's another reason he should never be president) but now we find out CBS news edited out McCain's lie.
Rather than call him on it, CBS covers up for McCain, which is no surprise if you know that CBS' corporate ownership makes the bombs and ammunition our soldiers are using in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Thank God for Keith Olbermann, who has similar corporate war lords, but he's not afraid to speak the truth and call out CBS on the air. Olbermann is about the only mainstream media reporter who has a conscious and doesn't roll over for his owner's propaganda.
On the subject of propaganda, one of the most famous propaganda NBC and MSNBC's owners, General Electric, have used over the years is their innocent sounding tagline: "GE - we bring good things to life." If there were a truth in advertising law that was actually enforced, their slogan would be: "GE - we kill brown things."
